What We Do

Capacity building of women and youth-owned businesses in the Ugandan energy sector.
Our work

2023 – 2025 FOCUS

Capacity building, mentorship, and economic and sustainable energy development.
With focus on the host communities where Uganda’s oil and gas deposits sit, it is clear to see that many host communities are facing a severe energy poverty crisis, with many communities struggling to access reliable and sustainable energy solutions, alongside businesses struggling to create and implement sustainable business solutions for a post resource production era, the Nishati Initiative is here to address these challenges and provide energy access and develop sustainable business solutions through strategic partnerships and/or income generated from capacity building programs to these communities, promoting prosperity and reducing energy poverty.

Nishati Initiative offers a unique solution to energy poverty by providing communities with access to renewable energy solutions, implementing energy efficiency measures, and offering energy-related skills training. The organisation will work hand in hand with partner organizations to provide credible market information, facilitate access to funding, establish forums for networking, coaching, and mentoring.

The ideal citizens for the Nishati Initiative are communities in the oil and gas host communities that are socially and economically disadvantaged and are in need of access to renewable energy solutions and capacity and skills development to effectively and sustainably participate in the sector. The organisation will target these communities, providing them with reliable and sustainable energy solutions, promoting business prosperity, and reducing energy poverty.
The Nishati Initiative is poised to succeed against its competitors by offering a unique solution to energy poverty and sustainable development. With a focus on capacity building of women and youth-owned businesses, the organisation will provide access to renewable energy solutions, implement energy efficiency measures, and offer energy-related skills training, providing a comprehensive and sustainable solution to energy poverty.
